The [Jewish] Enemies of Christ at Christmas

Jewish hatred of Christ and Christmas recently manifested itself to me in my email inbox, when this article from Tablet Magazine appeared. It concerned Jews boasting about how they had defiled Christmas via a crude Hollywood movie:

All-Star Team of Jews Defiles Christmas in Billy Bob Thornton’s ‘Bad Santa’ (December 2013)

“How the Coen brothers and Terry Zwigoff helped create a holiday classic that angers gentiles…”

Are the times of the Gentiles about to be fulfilled?

Lest you be wise in your own sight, I want you to understand this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

“The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

As regards the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy.

For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! ~ Saint Paul (Romans 11:25-33)

Are the Jews God’s chosen people?

It’s a long story, but yes: the Jews are God’s chosen people, which is why, when they rejected Christ, Christ rejected them and the gospel went to the Gentiles.

In fact, Jesus was sent only to the Jews. He was not sent to the Gentiles:

“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 15:24) Continue reading

“The gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction”

Millions of people who believe they are following Christ went to church today. The vast majority of these peoples are concerned with the cares of this world, because they have not renounced these in order to follow and to be a disciple of Christ… Continue reading

La Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

I arrived at La Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe at a very good time, just as the sun was setting on a Friday evening. Hardly anyone was there. I walked around the basilica, after coming onto the grounds off … Continue reading

Contemplating life, kindness, and death

Whenever I’m traveling and happen to see a cemetery, or a graveyard, I always say to myself:

“That’s where I am going.”

And that’s where all of us are going, before too long, and we can be certain, as Job said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” ~ Job 1:21 Continue reading

Did Jesus ever experience a panic attack?

“I certainly don’t think what I experienced in the form of a panic attack was anything close to what Jesus went through at this moment. However, I do realize that Jesus experienced something similar in his life and I can draw closer to him as result of this awareness.” Continue reading
