When is an unborn baby a baby?

And when is an unborn baby not a baby?

When a woman wants her baby her baby is considered a baby.

When a woman doesn’t want her baby and hires an abortionist to kill her baby her baby isn’t considered a baby but a fetus, which is Latin for offspring, or baby.

Right?

Attack on pregnant woman complicated by abortion politics

“LONGMONT, Colo. — A Colorado woman accused of luring an expectant mother to a basement and cutting the baby from her belly might not face homicide charges in the child’s death because of the way criminal law in the U.S. has become entangled in abortion politics.

“In a highly charged debate that has played out across the country, Colorado has twice rejected proposals to make the violent death of a fetus a homicide, refusing to join 38 other states and the federal government for fear such a law would be used to restrict abortions.

“That could complicate things for prosecutors in the case against Dynel Lane, 34, arrested in the grisly attack at her home Wednesday on a nearly eight-months-pregnant Michelle Wilkins. Wilkins survived; her baby girl died.

“Under Colorado law, essentially no murder charges can be brought if the child did not live outside of the mother,” said Stan Garnett, district attorney of liberal Boulder County.

“Keith Mason, the president of Personhood USA, an anti-abortion group that has been pushing for a fetal homicide law in Colorado, called the situation “literally absurd.”

“Lane remains in jail for now on suspicion of attempted murder and other crimes…”

Ala. abortion law lets judges appoint lawyers for fetuses

“MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The American Civil Liberties Union on Wednesday asked a federal judge to block an Alabama law that allows a fetus to be represented in court when a minor is seeking judicial permission for an abortion.

“While abortion opponents have rolled out a variety of new restrictions on abortion in recent years — including new requirements on clinics and doctors — ACLU staff attorney Andrew Beck said the Alabama law was unique…”

“March 26, 2015 – (CNN) – Dynel Lane will not face murder charges for allegedly cutting and removing an unborn baby from the mother’s womb, Boulder County, Colorado, District Attorney Stanley Garnett told CNN late Thursday.

“The mother, Michelle Wilkins, answered a Craigslist ad for baby clothes on March 18. (More details including a recording of the 911 call, here.)

“When she arrived at the purported seller’s home in Longmont, she was attacked, beaten, cut open and her fetus was removed. The baby did not survive.
