“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” ~ Jesus
I’m a veteran, because I was a dupe.
And, sad to say, I’ve been duped for most of my life, in many areas, because I’m a good — not an evil — person.
I suppose I’m still a dupe, in some regard, which I’m unaware of, but I’m trying to recover myself from the clever deceptions I’ve been taken in — duped — by.
Good peoples get duped because evil peoples take advantage of good peoples’ good natures.
The biggest deception I was taken in by, when I was young, was patriotism.
This deception was instilled in me by my family, school, church, and governments (local, state, and federal) and was very powerful. So powerful I volunteered to serve in the US armed forces when I was seventeen.
Like most teenage boys, I wanted to be a man; and serving in the US armed forces was, I thought, the best way to become a man. Nothing says “I’m a man” like “I’m a warrior” after all, I thought.
I wasn’t, however, completely naive, as a teenager…
I knew Pearl Harbor had been a lie foisted upon the American people by a lying government in order to give the USA a pretext for getting involved in World War II.
I knew the sinking of the Lusitania had provided the same sort of pretext for the USA getting involved in World War I.
And I knew the blowing up of the USS Maine had provided a pretext for the USA’s invasion of Cuba, and for starting the Spanish-American War.
I wasn’t aware, then, of the term “false flag”, but I knew what lies and pretexts were.
But none of that mattered to me, because I wanted to be a man. A warrior.
My dad had served, as had my uncles, as had many of my relatives, and those of my friends.
It was, I thought, my (patriotic) duty to serve, and I did.
I’m not proud of my service in the US armed forces, because I’ve realized the USA is evil, and has been evil for a very long time. Long before I was born.
I believe, now, I was a dupe, a fool, a sucker.
Service in the military (and patriotism) is noble only when one’s government is noble, and my government wasn’t — and isn’t — noble; therefore my service was ignoble.
Patriotism is a powerful propaganda tool, and is especially effective upon young men who want to prove their manhood.
“Uncle Sam needs you to defend your country, your family, and your home!” is powerful.
“Uncle Sam needs you to murder people who are no threat to your country, family, and home” is not so powerful.
Young men: Don’t be dupes.
Veterans: Stop being proud of having been a sucker.

“Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few — the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.
“And what is this bill?
“This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.
“For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out.

The Sermon on the Mount
“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
“And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:1-12)
