Six experts who appear in the film were members of the National Transportation Safety Board investigation team that concluded the crash was an accident, but they now claim they were silenced by their superiors. “Major Fred Meyer, a Ret. National Guard helicopter pilot and decorated Vietnam Veteran is one of hundreds of eyewitnesses that saw a missile hit TWA Flight 800 on July 17th 1996 over Long Island.

Also Ray Lahr, a Flight 800 Investigator believes the plane was shot down and does not believe in the NTSB’s conclusions.

None of the 200 eyewitness’s that day were allowed to testify at the NTSB’s public hearings.”

The General Dynamics FIM-43 Redeye was a man-portable surface-to-air missile system. It used infrared homing to track its target. Production was terminated in September 1969 after about 85,000 rounds had been built – in anticipation of the Redeye II, which later became the FIM-92 Stinger. The Redeye was withdrawn gradually between 1982 and 1995 as the Stinger was deployed.

50 Redeye systems were delivered to the Mujahideen by the US during the Soviet war in Afghanistan in 1984,[2] where they were used to shoot down a number of aircraft including several Su-25 jets as well as Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters.[3] By November 1986 it had largely been replaced by the dramatically more successful FIM-92 Stinger missiles.

The Redeye was known as Hamlet in Danish service and as RBS 69 in Swedish service.

The Redeye was also used by the Nicaraguan “Contras” to shoot down at least four Soviet Mi-8 helicopters during the Nicaraguan Civil War 1979-1987. These were provided to the FDN by the U.S.

The FIM-92 Stinger is a personal portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile (SAM), which can be adapted to fire from ground vehicles or helicopters (as an AAM), developed in the United States and entered into service in 1981. Used by the militaries of the United States and by 29 other countries, it is manufactured by Raytheon Missile Systems and under license by EADS in Germany, with 70,000 missiles produced. It is classified as a Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS).

June 19, 2013 – Documentary aims to ‘break silence’ on crash of TWA Flight 800

A coming documentary on the 1996 TWA Flight 800 disaster offers “solid proof that there was an external detonation,” Tom Stalcup, a co-producer of the documentary, told CNN’s “New Day” on Wednesday. “Of course everyone knows about the eyewitness statements, but we also have corroborating evidence from the radar data, and the radar data shows (an) asymmetric explosion coming out of that plane — something that didn’t happen in the official theory.” The National Transportation Safety Board ruled that the explosion was caused by an electrical short, most likely originating in a fuel gauge line, which found its way into the center wing fuel tank, detonating the lethal fuel vapors there.

Skeptics who have long theorized that TWA Flight 800 was brought down by sinister forces will get a fresh surge of energy when a new documentary attempts to disprove that the 1996 crash was accidental.

The twist: It includes six members of the large accident investigation team who, publicists say, will “break their silence” on the cause of the explosion.

They will petition the National Transportation Safety Board to reopen its investigation some 17 years after the B-747 fell in pieces into the waters off of Long Island, New York.

Information uncovered in early 1999 now shows that TWA Flight 800 could have been shot down by one or more shoulder-fired missiles. The FBI was briefed by military missile experts in the Fall of 1996 that Flight 800 was well within the range of a shoulder fired missile.  The FBI conducted a covert dredging operation for stinger missile parts between November 1996 and April 1997.  CDR. Donaldson brought this new evidence to the House Aviation Subcommittee in testimony on May 6, 1999.  Unfortunately, the major media and the Congress are content to swallow the official line without question.”

“Investigative reporter Peter Lance discussed his book, Cover Up, which maintains the U.S. government has been covering up its own counterterrorism/intelligence failures since the mid-1990s. Lance began his presentation by discussing Ahmed Amin Refai, an alleged al Qaeda mole who worked as an accountant for the New York Fire Department. According to Lance, Fire Marshall Ronnie Bucca uncovered Refai’s connections to terrorist ‘Blind Sheik’ Rahman, as well as evidence that Refai had obtained plans to the World Trade Center prior to the first bombing. Bucca shared this information with the New York office of the FBI, Lance explained, but was ignored.

Lance also spoke about an alleged corrupt relationship between FBI Supervisory Special Agent R. Lindley DeVecchio and mafia hitman Greg Scarpa Sr. He said DeVecchio would inform Scarpa Sr. about the location of his rivals so he could eliminate them. One such rival, Nicky Grancio, was killed with a shotgun blast to the head. Lance claims the FBI covered up the relationship between DeVecchio and Scarpa Sr., and read a ‘smoking gun’ memo during the program as evidence.

Next, Lance connected the son of Scarpa Sr. to Ramzi Yousef, whom he believes ordered the bombing of TWA 800 from his prison cell in order to get a mistrial in his own terror bombing case. Again, Lance suggested the FBI had been alerted in advance to Yousef’s plans, but failed to act on the intel. Lance also offered an update on a U.S. military program called Able Danger.”
