Concerning women and legal abortions: abortion on demand is degrading and unjust for women

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Every man [human being] is an heir to a legacy of dignity and worth.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Anything that uplifts the human personality is just, anything that degrades the human personality is unjust” ~  Martin Luther King, Jr.

Concerning women and legalized abortion on demand: legalized abortion on demand is both degrading and unjust for women.

Why?

Because abortion on demand DECREASES a woman’s dignity and worth; it DOES NOT INCREASE her dignity and worth.

“Anything that uplifts the human personality is just, anything that degrades the human personality is unjust” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr. (see: here.)

“Anything”; which includes: abortion on demand.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, which King proclaimed, demands women receive dignity and worth, because this is what is due them by virtue of their humanity.  Natural law, which America was founded upon, also demands women be granted that which is due them: dignity and worth, because this is just, or that which is due woman by virtue of her humanity.

The status quo (i.e., the existing state of affairs) in America, today: legalized abortion on demand, is unjust for women; and it has been for the past (nearly) 40 years, because it denies American women both the dignity and worth that is due them.

“How long will justice be crucified, and truth bear it? I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because truth crushed to earth will rise again. How long? Not long, because no lie can live forever.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr. (see: here.)

The injustice – and the LIE - that legalized abortion on demand INCREASED RATHER THAN DECREASED women’s dignity, and that it UPLIFTED RATHER THAN DEGRADED her personality – as woman - has lasted a long time, but it cannot – and will not – live forever.

Woman

Women say: “We deserve better than abortion and abortifacients!”

(see: http://www.feministsforlife.org/ )

Women say: “There is hope and forgiveness after abortion!”

(see: http://hopeafterabortion.com/)

I agree. What do you believe? And what kind of society do you want for your daughters and for you granddaughters and great-granddaughters?

QUESTION: Which one (1), of the following, UPLIFTS the human personality, and which one (1) DEGRADES the human personality?

QUESTION: Which one (1), of the following, INCREASES women’s dignity and worth, and which one (1) DECREASES women’s dignity and worth?

ANSWER: 1. “We, as a community, will do everything we can (shelter, food, clothing, healthcare, education, etc) in order to help you to give birth to your child, and, if you so choose, to place the child for adoption or to raise the child yourself.”

ANSWER: 2. “Here’s $500 (cash). I will drop you off at the clinic at 8:30 AM. Call me when you’re done.”

Both of the above “answers”, or societal “solutions”, take place in America every day; and the second (2) has taken place every day in America “legally” for the past (nearly) 40 years.

Which of the two (2) above represents wisdom, justice, beauty and truth? Which of the two (2) above represents foolishness, injusticeugliness, and lies?

I believe the first (1) represents wisdom, justice, beauty, and truth. I prefer, practice, and believe the first (1) answer is correct and what is best for women and their children. I think we should be striving to build a society that desires the first (1); to have as our ultimate goal the creation of a more caring, compassionate, and more just society; one  that uplifts, instead of degrades, women. The status quo is totally unacceptable and I demand it change, for the better, because the status quo is unjust and degrading to women. Federal law should protect the human dignity and worth of women (and their unborn children).

People who support “a women’s right to choose” may prefer and even do the first (1), but they believe our present situation – the status quo – must remain unchanged, forever. They demand the second (2) remain forever enshrined within one (1) decision, which was made by the US Supreme Court (nine old men) in 1972.

“When will the radiant star of hope be plunged against the nocturnal bosom of this lonely night, plucked from weary souls with chains of fear and the manacles of death?’ How long will justice be crucified, and truth bear it? I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because truth crushed to earth will rise again. How long? Not long, because no lie can live forever. How long? Not long, because ‘you shall reap what you sow’. How long? Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

I suppose I am the true progressive, because I am very unhappy with the status quo, wanting us to make forward progress in the construction of a better, more dignified, more humane, more compassionate, more worthy, more just society for women; a society wherein every human being is entitled to human dignity and worthy of protection, and wherein each human life is important.

Those who wish to maintain the status quo are true conservatives regarding the issue of abortion: they wish to keep women locked in the past and they refuse to do anything that would ever lift women up and out of our  current, degrading, unjust, oppressive, humiliating, painful, dangerous, harmful, blood-soaked, male-dominated (e.g., fathers, boyfriends, husbands, rapists, one-night-stands, abortionists) society, preferring to continue, by law, allowing women to be treated – by men – like so much trash (just as they demand we  forever continue treating these women’s unborn children like so much trash).

I think we can – and should – do better, for women (and their children); don’t you?

Rather: I demand we do better, as the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which King proclaimed, demands we do better (or die trying, which King did), as justice herself demands we do better, for our women and our children.

“How long will justice be crucified, and truth bear it? I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because truth crushed to earth will rise again. How long? Not long, because no lie can live forever. How long? Not long, because ‘you shall reap what you sow’. How long? Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
