Thoughts About Thinking – and the beginnings of a new book

It says: "Thoughts About Thinking, May 2011, A. J. MacDonald, Jr., If found please call or text . . .

I began writing a new book yesterday, the working title of which is: Thoughts About Thinking. I’ve wanted to write this book for quite a while now, because the subject interests me, and the inspiration to begin writing it finally came to me yesterday. It will be a lot of work writing it but I’m excited about getting started. There will be lots and lots of learning and thinking ahead . . . lots and lots of reading and re-reading, writing and re-writing, researching and re-researching, and, hopefully it will be easier to do the second time (it has been already). I hope, too, that I have the time to finish it, because it’s going to take a quite a while to write:

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:13-17 NEV

After I finished my first book I wanted to write a book on social/political theory. Considering the current social/political situation we face in the world today, I did not feel the need — or have the time — to write the book on the subject I wanted to write, but I was able to publish two ebooks on the subject, which are compendiums of the many essays I’ve written over the past year, and not the same as writing a “real” book from scratch.

This book — like the first chapter of my first book — will be about thinking and a working Table of Contents for the book is posted below. Any feedback is, as always, greatly appreciated!

Table of Contents

Chapter Two: Language
