October2011.org News: Stop Profiteering from Planetary Destruction and Human Suffering. One Week, Two Actions

Witness Against Torture reports that more than half of the 166 men in the prison have been cleared for release, with no charges of terrorism or any crime, but they wait, lingering while the callous and dysfunctional U.S. government ignores their basic human rights. These prisoners choose to resist after 11 years of indefinite detention with no end to their suffering in sight in a “piece of hell that kills everything” as one now dead prisoner described the prison. Don’t let their action go unnoticed – call the White House, write letters to the editor, organize a visibility action.

CIA run Fake Peace and Nonviolence NGO: “Waging Nonviolence”

“The same non-violence non-profits who take CIA money when they can get it (I’m not talking about ICNC, which just shares an accountant, has parallel goals, and whose president used to work there; ICNC has enough junk bond money to operate on its own) also give non-violent communication trainings and are inserting themselves wherever they can in the OWS movement. In DC, this is particularly worrisome, since the think-tank/lobbying/pro-USG logic is so hegemonic… Continue reading

Order and Security? or Chaos and Fear?

The current hype concerning gun control is for a reason: our government KNOWS people living in rural areas will NEVER give up their guns, and doesn’t want them to give up their guns. So why the hype? Because our government wants people living in rural areas to SHOOT the cops and soldiers who will soon be coming to take away their guns. Our government wants chaos and killing, not order and peace… Continue reading

“Why Would American Politicians Support the MEK?”

Just stoking fears of war can get money flowing, from studies to retrofitting naval vessels. Bombing would be better, as even something as small as the Libyan war involved spending more than a billion dollars. But full-on war, that’s the mother lode. An invasion followed by an Iraq-style lingering occupation and reconstruction would open up hundreds of billions and possibly even trillions of taxpayer dollars for the grabbing. Hopefully these Treasury Department investigations are a sign that the Obama Administration has finally decided to rein in the warmongers…. Continue reading
