Suffering, in the plan of eternal Love, has a redemptive character

Natural disasters, crime, war… there many many things cause peoples to doubt or to blame God for the evils of the world we live in. The world is one order and design, not of chance and randomness.

If the world were a random place to live in, then earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc could occur anywhere anytime, but they don’t. These occur in places and at times that follow a somewhat regular and orderly pattern as to time and place. If we choose to live in San Francisco, we know we risk being buried alive in an earthquake… if we choose to live in Oklahoma, we know we run the risk we run of being buried alive in a tornado… if we choose to live in Chicago, we know the risk we run of being shot… etc…

Jesus has conquered sin, Satan, death, hell, and the grave, and is redeeming peoples in the world and the world itself, and he will transform these into a new and better world on the Last Day. In this new world there will be no more tears, no more sorrow, no more suffering.

“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration [Gk: παλινγενεσίᾳ] when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel” ~ Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:28).

The seven deadly sins are seven good, normal, and healthy aspects of the human personality which, when taken to excessive extremes, become sinful.

The seven deadly sins are: pride, wrath, greed, sloth, lust, envy, and gluttony

Pride is the first and most deadly of the seven deadly sins, and from it all others flow…

Pride is the healthy self-image, which is taken to a sinful extreme, becoming arrogance and hubris.

Greed is the healthy accumulation of goods and money, which is taken to the extreme of hoarding these for the sake gaining personal pleasure.

Lust is the healthy sexual drive and desire, which runs amok in a never ending pursuit of fleeting, personal, sexual pleasure.

Envy is the healthy ambition to improve oneʼs own condition, which goes beyond ambition into a resentment of those who have what we want, yet cannot have, or have not yet attained.

Gluttony is the desire to make oneʼs body feel good, such as by eating and drinking in order to remove the pangs of hunger and thirst, or of enjoying the pleasures of food and drink by taking pleasure in them, which are healthy desires, that has removed these healthy limits by pursuing food and drink to an excess of pleasure, even to the point of being in bondage to them, in the form of the habitual abuse of these things, which goes far beyond what these good things are intended for.

Sloth is the good of rest and sleep taken to the sinful extreme of laziness and the loss of the desire to work.

Anger is our natural sense that justice has (somehow) been violated, which is taken to a sinful extreme, resulting in the fury of violence and vengeance.

Pride is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

The seven contrary virtues are: humility, kindness, abstinence, chastity, patience, liberality, diligence

The Contrary Virtues were derived from the Psychomachia (“Battle for the Soul”), an epic poem written by Prudentius (c. 410). Practicing these virtues is alledged to protect one against temptation toward the Seven Deadly Sins: humility against pride, kindness against envy, abstinence against gluttony, chastity against lust, patience against anger, liberality against greed, and diligence against sloth.

All of us are engaged in a personal, ongoing battle with sin and vice. The seven deadly sins–lust, greed, envy, anger, pride, gluttony, and sloth–are our main antagonists in this struggle. They are primary causes of unhappiness and immorality, and because of their pervasive nature, have been of perennial interest to religious thinkers, philosophers, dramatists, and poets.

Although our anger doesn’t make most of us murderers, our lust doesn’t make most of us rapists, and our greed and envy don’t make most of us outright criminals, they, together with gluttony, arrogance, and sloth, often make us, and those who have to live with us, miserable. One need only read the daily paper to see that these seven sins are alive and well, deadlier than ever, spawning violence and suffering, illness and anxiety, loss of meaning and depression. An arrogant yuppie considers suicide after losing his job on Wall Street, which had been the fragile basis of his false pride. A distinguished senator and a prominent judge destroy their careers and wound their female victims with their lust. Millions of men and women, distraught about their body image, subject themselves to liposuction, breast and hair implants because of their gluttony or vanity.

People at the pinnacle of economic power fall into the abyss of prison because they could not control their avarice.

One woman who’s not convinced to “just have them removed”

One can easily imagine the day when, under a nationalized healthcare system, women are told – not asked – to “just have them both removed.”

Virtually everything we’re taught about cosmology and evolution is wrong

The proaborts’ best “argument” to date has been: Less regulations on abortion clinics will make woman safer and will reduce the number of Kermit Gosnells.

This is equivalent to saying: Less regulations on construction will make garment workers in Bangladesh safer and will reduce the number of unsafe garment manufacturing buildings.

The pro-abortion lobby should hire Professor Peter Singer and get new talking points from him. Singer denies that newborns are persons and maintains that infanticide is morally acceptable.

Rather than straddling the fence, as the proaborts are now doing, and rather than being caught on the horns of a dilemma of their own making, they should say this:

Late term abortions, such as those Gosnell was performing, are unsafe, dangerous for women, and should be illegal. All other abortions, before 20 weeks must remain legal. If for whatever reason a woman has not been able to procure an abortion before the 20 week limit it is safer for her to carry the child to term. These women should be permitted to partner with science, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research corporations who would pay for their medical care and housing as well as provide a substantial payment to women who would agree to give birth to their children and permit these corporation to take possession of them for scientific research and testing purposes.

If I were Satan, this is what I would suggest. What better way to eliminate animal testing  could there be than to provide human subjects for testing who are not yet persons? This idea could actually eliminate abortions all together, and could lead to many women desiring to become pregnant simply for the money. This could even lead to the end of birth control, since women could earn a substantial income by becoming pregnant. And it would also lead to much safer products, medicines, and technologies by using human – as opposed to animal – test subjects.

“In 1993, ethicist Peter Singer shocked many Americans by suggesting that no newborn should be considered a person until 30 days after birth and that the attending physician should kill some disabled babies on the spot. Five years later, his appointment as Decamp Professor of Bio-Ethics at Princeton University ignited a firestorm of controversy, though his ideas about abortion and infanticide were hardly new. In 1979 he wrote, “Human babies are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. They are not persons”; therefore, “the life of a newborn is of less value than the life of a pig, a dog, or a chimpanzee.”

Leroy Carhart, the late term abortionist in Germantown, Maryland, induces labor in the same manner, today, as Gosnell did in Philadelphia, before he was arrested for the murder of one women and seven children.

As the PA grand jury report on the Gosnell case points out:

“When you perform late term “abortions” by inducing labor, you get babies. Live, breathing, squirming babies.”

Reverse speech, Jared Loughner, DallasGoldbug, Gabby Giffords, and staged events 

Reverse speech is what Ed Chiarini (aka DallasGoldbug) was talking about in all of his videos before, during, and after the 2011 Tucson shooting. He has now removed all of these videos from his YouTube page. At the time of the Tucson shooting (1/8/2011) I was researching it and came across Chiarini’s videos. I came to the conclusion, then, that shooter Jared Loughner may have been receiving subconscious messages (with possible triggers) from Chiarini through his videos. Loughner had videos describing lucid dreaming and mind control on his own YouTube page. Both Loughner and Chiarini lived in Tucson at that time, and I had lived there myself from 2008-2010. Chiarini, after the Tucson shooting, claimed the shooting event was staged – faked – having used various personnel from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office as actors, whom he identified in his videos after the shooting. Although this seemed odd to me at the time, since Sandy Hook, and especially since the Boston bombing, this “staged events using actors” has now become incredibly popular. Chiarini says all news events are staged, and I suspect he is up to no good by saying so, as well as for his involvement in creating very involved, time consuming, and expensive reverse speech videos before, during, and after the Tucson shooting.

Operation Cyclone

Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen prior to and during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The program leaned heavily towards supporting militant Islamic groups that were favored by neighboring Pakistan, rather than other, less ideological Afghan resistance groups that had also been fighting the Marxist-oriented Democratic Republic of Afghanistan regime since before the Soviet intervention. Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken; funding began with $20–30 million per year in 1980 and rose to $630 million per year in 1987. Funding continued after 1989 as the Mujahideen battled the forces of Mohammad Najibullah‘s PDPA during the Civil war in Afghanistan (1989–1992).

But now there is something to it. … The initial draft revealed by [ABC's Jonathan] Karl [and a week earlier by The Weekly Standard's Stephen F. Hayes] mentions ‘at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi’ before the one in which four Americans were killed. That’s not in the final version. December 1997-Spring 1998: Urgent Requests for Embassy Security Go Unheeded

US Ambassador Prudence Bushnell

By December 1997, Prudence Bushnell, the US Ambassador to Kenya, is aware that her embassy could be in danger. She has been told of an August 1997 warning that proved there was an al-Qaeda cell in Nairobi (see Late 1994), a precise (and ultimately accurate) November 1997 warning detailing a plot to attack the embassy (see November 1997), and other recent warnings, including information indicating that she is an assassination target. She sends two cables to State Department headquarters in Washington, claiming that the embassy’s location makes it “extremely vulnerable to a terrorist attack,” and asks for security improvements to be made. The State Department turns down her requests and begins to see Bushnell as a nuisance. In early 1998, General Anthony Zinni, the commander of US forces in the region, visits the Nairobi embassy and decides it is vulnerable to terrorist attacks. He offers to send a security team to inspect the situation, but his offer is turned down. The State Department sends its own team instead and in March 1998 determines that about $500,000 worth of easily implemented improvements should make the embassy secure. But the money is not quickly allocated. Bushnell then sends “an emotional letter to Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright begging for the Secretary’s personal help.” She says she has been fighting for months for a more secure embassy as threats increase, and that the State Department’s refusal to grant her requests for funding is “endangering the lives of embassy personnel.” Albright takes no action. The embassy will be bombed in August (see 10:35-10:39 a.m., August 7, 1998).

What Pope Francis Has Done

After his election, he came down from platform to greet the cardinal electors, rather than have them come up to his level to offer obedience.

He appeared on the loggia without the red cape. (The BBC report, unconfirmed, is that he said to his aide, “No thank you, Monsignore. You put it on instead. Carnival time is over.”)

In his greeting he referred to himself only as “bishop,” not as “pope.”

He referred to Benedict as “bishop emeritus,” not “pope emeritus.”

He appeared without the stole, only putting it on to give the blessing. He then took it off in public (!), as if he couldn’t wait to get it off.

He asked for the people’s blessing before he blessed them.

He doesn’t wear red shoes.

Or white stockings.

Or cuff links.

He rode the bus back to the residence with the cardinals rather than take the papal limousine.

When he went to Mary Major to pray, he declined the papal Mercedes and took a Volkswagen Passat.

On his way back from Mary Major, he stopped at his pre-conclave hotel to get his luggage and pay his own bill.

Though he has taken possession of the apostolic palace, he continued to receive guests at St. Martha’s House rather than the palace.

He drank Argentinian tea in public when receiving the Argentinian president – protocol is that popes are seen publicly consuming no food or drink except the Eucharist.

His first Mass with cardinals was celebrated facing the people. (Pope Benedict started this way, but then did a “reform of the reform” and celebrated at the old high altar in the

Sistine Chapel facing away from the congregation. Apparently this has been reversed.)

He doesn’t chant the prayers, he recites them – but this could be because of an impaired lung or his singing ability.

The wall of candles between celebrant and congregation, another of Pope Benedict’s “reform of the reform,” was moved away with three candles on each side of the altar.

At his inauguration Mass, photos show that the candles were originally set up across the front of the altar, but by Mass time they had been moved to the side.

The crucifix on the altar was a small one at his first Mass.

He wore his own simple miter from Argentina, not the papal miter.

He preached from the ambo without miter – rather like a simple parish priest. (The concelebrating cardinals gradually realized what was going on and had to remove the miters they had started to put on after the Gospel reading.)

He brushed aside the prepared Latin homily and preached in Italian without text.

In general, less lace.

His hands are folded during the liturgy, not the pious (some say prissy) way with palms together.

He didn’t genuflect at the Supper Narrative of the Eucharistic Prayer – is this really because of bad knees?

He asked the cardinals not to wear their red cardinals’ robes, but black.

He stood on the floor of the Clementine Hall to greet the cardinals rather than sit on the throne on the platform.

He called them “brother cardinals” rather than “Lord cardinals.”

He bent to kiss the ring of a cardinal who kissed his ring.

At his meeting with over 5,000 journalists, after Archbishop Celli introduced him, he got up to walk over to him (popes don’t do that) and thanked him.

He didn’t bless the journalists like popes do, since not all of them are Catholic or believers. Instead he prayed for them in silence, then simply said “God bless you.”

After the meeting with journalists, he waved away the papal limousine and walked to the Vatican residence.

When he saw the papal apartments he said, “There’s room for 300 people here. I don’t need all this space.” He has yet to move into the apartments, and some wonder whether he will.

At Mass Sunday at the Vatican parish Sunday morning, he gave the Kiss of Peace to the deacons and Master of Ceremonies, not just the concelebrants. This is breaking the rules – but perhaps also a nice show of support for MC Marini, who must be reeling from all the sudden changes.

The deacon didn’t kneel before Pope Francis for the blessing before the gospel (as they did for John Paul II and Benedict XVI).

He doesn’t wear the dalmatic. Pope Benedict revived the practice, not foreseen in the reformed liturgical books, of wearing this deacon’s vestment under his papal vestments.

He doesn’t distribute Communion as the missal foresees of the celebrant, but is seated while others do so.

He listened to the words of the Patriarch of Constantinople seated on an armchair rather than the throne that is customarily used in the Clementine Hall. When he thanked Bartholomew I, he called him “my brother Andrew.”

He has simplified his coat of arms, keeping the miter rather than tiara (as Benedict also did) but removing the pallium from it.

He is wearing a second-hand pallium.

He has chosen a simple ring, re-using a ring once made for Paul VI’s secretary.

Pope Benedict recently began wearing a fanon under the pallium for big feasts, but Francis did not wear it as the inauguration Mass.

He undid Pope Benedict’s decision that all the cardinals would come up to pay obedience to the Pope at his inauguration, and decided that six representatives would be enough.

Rather than being seated while they came up to pay him obedience, he stood and greeted them informally.

Contrary to protocol, he has given a phone call to the Jesuit superior general, the people holding a prayer vigil outside the Buenos Aires cathedral, and the guy in Argentina who sold him his daily paper (to cancel his delivery).

When he met the Jesuit general, he apologized for not keeping protocol and insisted on being treated like any other Jesuit with the “tu” informal address, rather than “Your Holiness” or “Holy Father.”

He is not celebrating Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper in St. Peter’s Basilica (he hasn’t yet taken possession of his cathedral, John Lateran), but in a juvenile prison.

He celebrated an unannounced Mass at St. Martha’s with hotel workers, Vatican gardeners, and people who clean St. Peter’s square. He showed up before Mass and sat in the back row to pray a bit.

In his official photograph, he signs his name simply “Franciscus” without “PP” (“pontifex pontificum”) used by previous popes.

One of the things that might prevent the new pope from rejecting “the pomp and ceremony that surrounds his 2,000-year-old office” is the name he inherited, says Peter Stanford in Britain’s The Guardian: “His full title is ‘bishop of Rome, vicar of Jesus Christ, successor of St Peter, prince of the apostles, supreme pontiff of the universal church, patriarch of the west, primate of Italy, archbishop and metropolitan of the Roman province, sovereign of the state of Vatican City.’” That’s a mouthful when “you are busy telling people you are at their service.”

“The title “Brave New World” is a quote from Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. It is used by Huxley for several reasons. Firstly it allows him to connect the two stories together and highlights the issue of ‘civillisation’ vs. ‘savagery’ that dominates in both and also helps us to draw parallels between characters such as the savage Caliban in “The Tempest” and John the Savage in “Brave New World”.

“The quote also places John the Savage at the centre of the novel for us as readers because Shakespeare is particularly important to him, having learnt to read using the only thing he could find – Shakespeare’s collected works. He also uses Shakespearean quotes often throughout the course of the novel (including the title quote itself).

“Huxley also uses the quote to create a sense of irony. In “The Tempest” when Miranda says “How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, That has such people in’t” (5.1.182-183) she is communicating awe and joy at the prospect of the new world and its possibilities. For John the Savage his experience of the new world is quite the opposite – he starts out optimistic but by the end is disgusted and repulsed by the world he has been brought into. By linking his reaction with Miranda’s it makes his feelings all the more poignant.”

During the early 1980’s, I lived and worked in Bethesda, Maryland and I would go to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda on a daily basis. I remember a local news story in the Washington Post during those days reporting that the NIH was creating an incurable virus using various combinations of adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine via a computer and a machine which would inject each of these according to the necessary genetic code for the virus, thus, in time, creating the virus itself.

I looked for information about this just now but could not find it, so you’ll have to take my word for it that NIH did do this at that time.

As I said in my book “The World Perceived” it doesn’t take much imagination to realize that if one can create an entire computer virtual world using a simple binary code of “1” and “0” God could certainly create the physical world using a simple code of “A”, “C”, “G”, “T” (= adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine).

Likewise, scientists are doing the same thing.

The question is “Do we have the wisdom needed to do this?”

This Ear Was Made With A 3D Printer And It Hears Better Than Your Ears

“Our work suggests a new approach — to build and grow the biology up with the electronics synergistically and in a 3-D interwoven format,” lead researcher Michael McAlpine told The Daily Princetonian. The ear is the first attempt to blend human tissue and electronics, and is not yet ready for use. When it’s ready, the bionic ear would work more like a hearing aid than anything else.”
