World War 3 = NATO on the Offensive: 1994 – Present

“Washington DC, 4th April 1949 – The Parties to this [NATO] Treaty reaffirm their faith in the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and their desire to live in peace with all peoples and all governments.

“They are determined to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilisation of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law.”

See: http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/nato.asp

“The [NATO] members agreed that an armed attack against any one of them in Europe or North America would be considered an attack against them all. Consequently they agreed that, if an armed attack occurred, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence, would assist the member being attacked, taking such action as it deemed necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.”

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO

The biggest, most dramatic, and deadly change in foreign policy and geo-politics has been the shift and redefinition of NATO’s stated defensive purpose and policy to an offensive purpose and policy.

NATO’s purpose was always one of defense, in self defense, against aggression if and when the Warsaw Pact nations, most especially: the old USSR, attacked a member nation of the NATO alliance.

This defensive purpose and policy was reversed, and NATO went on the offensive, beginning in 1994 and has continued on the offensive – causing tens of thousands of needless civilian deaths – to the present day.

I have no doubt historians of the future will equate the beginning of the Third World War with this shift – from defense to offense – of NATO in 1994.

Sadly, many young peoples today, and many older peoples as well, are accustom to NATO’s unprovoked aggression and the violation of it’s treaty, and believe this is the way NATO has always behaved, but this is untrue.

Self defense is reasonable, going on the offensive, invading nations, and murdering their peoples in unjust wars is evil, and NATO is the largest purveyor of evil on the planet today.

“On 28 February 1994, four warplanes violating the no-fly zone were shot down by NATO aircraft in the Alliance’s first military engagement.

“NATO’s air operations against Bosnian Serb positions in August and September 1995 helped pave the way for a comprehensive peace agreement. The operation, Deliberate Force, lasted for 12 days and helped shift the balance of power between parties on the ground. It also helped persuade the Bosnian Serb leadership that the benefits of negotiating a peace agreement outweighed those of continuing to wage war.”

NATO AGS 1

Operation Deliberate Force was OFFENSIVE NOT DEFENSIVE and was A GROSS VIOLATION of The North Atlantic Treaty, which NATO was supposed to uphold. Every operation NATO has undertaken since 1995 has likewise been OFFENSIVE not DEFENSIVE.

“Many human rights groups criticised Civilian casualties resulting from military actions of NATO forces in Operation Allied Force. Both Serbs and Albanians were killed in 90 Human Rights Watch-confirmed incidents in which civilians died as a result of NATO bombing. It reported that as few as 489 and as many as 528 Yugoslav civilians were killed in the NATO airstrikes.”

NATO = The North Atlantic Treaty Organization

“NATO’s essential purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of its members through political and military means.

“POLITICAL – NATO promotes democratic values and encourages consultation and cooperation on defence and security issues to build trust and, in the long run, prevent conflict.

“MILITARY – NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes. If diplomatic efforts fail, it has the military capacity needed to undertake crisis-management operations. These are carried out under Article 5 of the Washington Treaty – NATO’s founding treaty – or under a UN mandate, alone or in cooperation with other countries and international organizations.”

1949 – The North Atlantic Treaty

“The Parties to this Treaty reaffirm their faith in the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and their desire to live in peace with all peoples and all governments.

“They are determined to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilisation of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law. They seek to promote stability and well-being in the North Atlantic area.

“They are resolved to unite their efforts for collective defence and for the preservation of peace and security. They therefore agree to this North Atlantic Treaty.”

See: The North Atlantic Treaty – http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/official_texts_17120.htm

1995 – NATO engages in its first major crisis-management operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

“NATO conducted its first major crisis response operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The NATO-led Implementation Force (IFOR) was deployed in December 1995 to implement the military aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement and was replaced a year later by the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR). SFOR helped to maintain a secure environment and facilitate the country’s reconstruction in the wake of the 1992-1995 war.”

NATO’s first ever military engagement

“After the United Nations authorised the enforcement of a no-fly zone over Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO began Operation Deny Flight in April 1993. On 28 February 1994, four warplanes violating the no-fly zone were shot down by NATO aircraft in the Alliance’s first military engagement.”

“At the request of the United Nations, NATO provided close air support to the UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) on the ground and carried out air strikes to protect UN-designated safe havens. Air strikes were conducted against targets such as tanks, ammunition depots and air defence radars.

The same thing that happened in Serbia and Kosovo is happening in Syria: NATO is still on the offensive and is still using it’s “Islamist jihadist” mercenaries.

“But there is a bigger problem than double standards. The obvious inconsistency in NATO’s claim that it is protecting civilians while killing them isn’t even remarked upon by the two journalists, even though they’ve made the inconsistency clear enough.”

Investors Business Daily – November 30, 2012 – For Susan Rice, Benghazi Was Kenya 1998 Deja Vu

“Parallels: A mission was attacked after warnings, Americans were killed after security requests were denied, and a diplomat went on TV to explain it all — our current U.N. ambassador, after embassy bombings in 1998.

“’What troubles me so much is the Benghazi attack in many ways echoes the attacks on both embassies in 1998, when Susan Rice was head of the African region for our State Department,” Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Wednesday after two hours with our U.N. ambassador. “In both cases, the ambassador begged for additional security.”

“The Russian ministry said in a statement that the talks covered not only the ways of organizing armed resistance against authorities but also the training of Syrian militants in Kosovo.

“Transforming Kosovo into an international training ground for armed militants may become a serious destabilizing factor that could extend beyond the Balkans,” the document said. “We urge international bodies operating in Kosovo to take all necessary steps to prevent these plans.”

“Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The program leaned heavily towards supporting militant Islamic groups that were favored by neighboring Pakistan, rather than other, less ideological Afghan resistance groups that had also been fighting the Marxist-oriented Democratic Republic of Afghanistan regime since before the Soviet intervention. Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken;[1] funding began with $20–30 million per year in 1980 and rose to $630 million per year in 1987.[2] Funding continued after 1989 as the Mujahideen battled the forces of Mohammad Najibullah’s PDPA during the Civil war in Afghanistan (1989–1992).[3]”

Very apt observation on the continuing NATO offensives. It is quite alarming what is currently happening in the mIddle east as it appears to follow a preplanned initiative, especially given the history of CIA in toppling foreign regimes.
